What fans may have wondered at the time was how the character, who was clearly Carla's match as they were married, wound up with an untimely demise and sad post-mortem plot twist. The character that was briefly married to Carla - Eddie LeBec - was written off the show by way of unhappy accident, but the story continued that Eddie had stepped out on Carla and was actually married to another woman (who also wound up pregnant).
